To Tan or NOT To Tan

To Tan or NOT To Tan

Spray tanning and self-tanning products are considered much safer alternatives to sun exposure or sunbeds because they don’t involve harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Prolonged UV exposure from the sun or tanning beds damages the skin’s DNA, accelerating aging, causing wrinkles, and significantly increasing the risk of skin cancers such as melanoma.

In contrast, spray tans and self-tanners use dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a colorless sugar that reacts with the amino acids in the skin’s surface layer to create a temporary bronzed appearance without penetrating deeper layers or causing cellular damage!!!!

Choosing a sunless tan allows you to achieve a golden glow while protecting your skin’s health and appearance. It helps maintain collagen, elasticity, and an even tone without the long-term consequences of UV damage. With proper application and aftercare, spray tans and self-tanners provide a safe, customizable, and radiant alternative to traditional tanning methods.

The reality of a regular tan from the glorious beaches and poolside's is...the prolonged exposure to UV rays breaks down collagen and elastin in the skin, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and premature aging. It also causes pigmentation issues like sunspots and increases the risk of skin cancer by damaging the DNA in skin cells. Over time, this cumulative damage results in a dull, uneven, and aged appearance.

What's the point of having sun kissed skin if its ages, wrinkled, dry and blotchy? not to mention covered in cancers and then scarring from surgical removal?!!!

You weigh up the priority.
